HOBET REACHES OUT TO 200 ADOLESCENT GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN (AGYW) IN TIKO ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY 2023

May 28th is commemorated globally as Menstrual Hygiene Day – Global because of its uniqueness of May (5 month) being a significance of an average number of days a lady bleeds 🩸 and 28days being an average length of the menstrual cycle.

On this day, We reached out to 200 #AGYW in Custain a community in Tiko subdivision with lessons on General Hygiene, Menstrual Hygiene Management, awareness around Gender Based Violence and Comprehensive Sexuality Education with the production of customized menstrual beads. At the end of this session we distributed Menstrual kits made up of Sanitary pads, pants, hand towel and washing detergent.

During the production of Menstrual beads, 12 year old primary 6 pupil Aboh Nyongamsen-Ndasi together with HOBET’s team facilitated the production and worked with her peers to make them understand their cycle and the importance of the bead to them and it’s uniqueness in color and style

The event was a ground breaking one due to the contributions of our donors and Luena Foundation being the main sponsor of the event.

During this event, the AGYW took a commitment to be #PeriodPositive while being watchdogs to all act of GBV and report it to the authorities.
