Rape or other forms of sexual Gender Based Violence SGBV is something that most of those who suffer from it don’t like to ever talk about it. This is because most times when they open up about how they feel, people start using their situation to attribute them names, stigmatize them or blame them for being at the wrong place and at the wrong time which is not supposed to be so.

SGBV is never a situation any male and female alike will ever love to find themselves in.

Also, some media platforms make the situation worst by giving out the name and pictures of the survivors rather than the perpetrators. With this, they expose the survivors to more torture and stigmatization.

At Hope for a Better Tomorrow (HOBET), we believe in giving SGBV survivors the voice they once had. Making them understand that they can be stronger than what the community says. Giving them the importance of storytelling as the first means of healing.
We also aim at educating media houses on ethical reporting of SGBV cases and how to protect survivors when reporting.

With all this, we came up with A Collaborative approach to Reducing SGBV in Limbe which involves Survivors and media Platforms and with this, we call on survivors of Sexual Gender Based Violence (Rape) in Fako and Douala to fill the form below and let’s all discuss on the power of Storytelling.
